Subject:

IE Bulletin No. 83 Nonconforming Materials Supplied by Tube-Line Corporation Facilities at Long Island City, New York; Mouston, Texax; & Carol Stream, Illinois 50 -4LQ 3

Dear Mr. Collins:

Pursi. ant to IE Bulletin 83-06 directive, a review was performed to determine if any Tube-Line supplied ASME Code materials have been received at Cooper Nuclear Station.

The Bulletin indicated that Tube-Line started supplying ASME Code components to the nuclear industry in 1981. The Bulletin also included lists of companies which, during the inspections, were identified as having purchased or received Tube-Line supplied materials. A review of those lists was performed to determine if Nebraska Public Power District had received materials from any of these companies. This review consisted of reviewing Qualified Vendors Lists from January 1981 to present to determine if any of the companies identified on IEB 83-06 were listed as an approved vendor.

There were five (5) companies common to both lists.

They are:

Dravo Chicago Bridge & Iron Crane Chempump Chicago Tube & Iron Guyon Alloys Computer listings of purchase orders from 1981 to present were reviewed to determine what, if any, purchases were made from these companies. The review revealed that orders filled by these companies did not include ASME Code components from Tube-Line.

In addition to the above reviews, a computer search was performed to deter-mine if any material certificates from Tube-Line were in the records system. Those found were from material used in the construction of CNS which were not ordered to ASME Code requirements.
