Docket Nos. STN 50-498, STN 50-499 Supplemental Information on Anchor Bolt Verification By letter dated January 28, 1980, Houston Lighting & Power Company (HL&P) submitted a final report on a reportable deficiency concerning improper anchor bolt niaterial. This final report was supplemented by our letter of January 26, 1981 in which HL&P provided a summary of a reverification program relatea to anchor bolt material and thread related issues conducted by Brown & Root, Inc. (B&R).

In light of recent questions raised by NRC Region IV inspectors regarding documentation which was used as a basis for HL&P's closure of the deficiency, additional technical review has been undertaken and is in progress. HL&P will submit additional information pending completion of our program intended to resolve all outstanding issues associated with the adequacy of anchor bolts and related hardware.

I will be contacting you regarding a possible date for meeting with you and members of your staff to discuss the details of the Bechtel program.

Very truly yours,

(*) j f.
