Eecntel Technical Specification M-205, Rev 13, " Field Fabrication and Installation of Conventional Steam and Service Piping" and Bechtel Technical Specification.M-204, Rev 16, " Field Fabrication and Instal;1ation of Piping" paragraph 5.1.3 " Quality cf Werkmanship" subparagraph e states:

"Pricr to welding, all surf aces shall be cleaned theroughly by grinding, wire brushing and/cr solvent cleaning. Each pass shall be cleaned and free of slag before the next cass is depcsited. For aus-tenitic stainless steel piping, enly stainless steel brushes er aluminum cxide er silicen-carbide grinding wheels shall be used. High speed carbaley burring tools shall not be used en austenitic stainless steel weldments fer cleaning purposes as discentinuities can be covered or masked due to ductility properties fer this material."
