Five (5) copies of the Westinghouse response to NRC Question 492.2 on Improved Thermal Design Procedures for Catawba Units 1 and 2 (Non-Proprietary).
Also enclosed are:

One (1) copy of Westinghouse approval letter CAW-82-71 (Non-Proprietary).

One (1) copy of Affidavit (Non-Proprietary).
In the Safety Evaluation Report on WCAP-9500, " Reference Core Report 17 x 17 Optimized Fuel Assembly", the Staff required those plants using the Improved Thermal Design Procedure (ITDP) to provide additional information on the plant specific application of the ITDP. Please find attached the Westinghouse response for Catawba. The generic response related to ITDP was provided by Westinghouse letter NS-EPR-2577, Rahe to Berlinger, March 31, 1982. However, this submittal in specific for RdF transmitters as implemented for Catawba.
Units 1 and 2 instrumentation is consistent with or conservative with respect to the assumptions made in the Westinghouse response.
This submittal contains proprietary information of Westinghouse Electric Corporation.
In conformance with the requirements of 10 CFR Section 2.790, as amended, of the Commission's regulations, we are enclosing with this submittal an application for withholding from public disclosure by the Commission.
