!.. ?U l0 ld' Docket No. 50-219 Mr. Richard F. Wilson Vice President, Technical Functions GPU Nuclear Corporation One Upper Pond Road.

Parsippany, New Jersey 07054

Dear Mr. Wilson:

In.your letter dated May 1,1989, GPU NuclearL Corporation volunteered to participate in the implementation of the Emergency. Response Data System (ERDS),

at your facilities. -Since that time, the efforts of your personnel 'in cooperation with our implementation contractor have resulted in the

~

establishment of an ERDS link at your Oyster. Creek Facility. Oyster Creek was one of the first facilities in the nation.to establish such a; link.

I have recently been informed that all operational testing of the ERDS link at Oyster Creek has been satisfactorily completed. The ERDS link-at Oyster Creek is, therefore, considered operational and should be' implemented in your-emergency response planning as soon as possible.

In addition, configuration-control measures, as described in NUREG-1394, should be established to maintain the Oyster Creek data base in EROS current.

At this time, I would like to recognize the efforts of Messrs. Gordon Bond and William Douglas. Their assistance and cooperation throughout-the implementation at Oyster Creek was invaluable to the successful completion of the project.

Sincerely, Original Signed by:

E.L Jordan Edward L. Jordan, Director Office for Analysis and Evaluation of Operational-Data DISTRIBUTION:
