Docket No. 50-206, Provisional Operating License No. DPR-13 Steam Generator Tube Inspection Program 4

San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1 At a meeting on October 20, 1976, between Southern California Edison, three other utilities, Westinghouse Electric Corporation and the NRC staff, a general program for steam generator-inspections to assure the integrity of the small radius steam generator tubes was discussed.

This program involves the cooperation of the three other utilities, in addition to ourselves, and the participation of Westinghouse.

' In response to a telephone request made by a member of your staff on October 21, 1976, the purpose of this letter is to advise you that the specific steam generator tube inspections and any remedial action designed to limit the possibility for U-bend leakage as determined by the inspection findings will be accomplished to the satisfaction of the NRC and ourselves' prior to resumption of power operation at San Onofre Unit 1.

We are currently finalizing the details of our specific participation in the general program for steam generator tube inspections.

If you have any questions concc2.'ing our plans discussed above, please contact me.

Very truly yours, d
