s, DUKE POWER COMPANY CATAWBA NUCLEAR STATION Supplemental Response:
In reference to my letter of May 4, 1981, ccncerning Items 3 and 4, Catawba will train all QC welding inspectors in the proper requirements to inspect weld cavity geometries and the "NA" of purge when sufficient weld metal thickness remains after the defect is removed. This information will be incorporated into the Weld Inspector's Training Pro-gram to assure all new inspectors are trained as they are hired on.
This training will be completed by July 1, 1981.
