y Ret Docket No. 50-482 Subj: 50.55(e) Report - Dravo Piping Spools g

Dear Mr. Madsen:

On May 1. 1981, Mr. Wm. G. Eales made a telephone report to Mr. W. Hubacek of your office regarding a potential deficiency of some of the Class I and Class III pipe spools supplied by Dravo Corporation. Background information can be found in the letter that Dravo sent to the NRC Region III Office (Dravo letter, Schwab to Keppler, dated 1/26/81).

A re-inspection program for Dravo piping spools is being completed at the Wolf Creek Generating Station. The initial inspection found some welds that had rough sur' ces, such that meaningful liquid penetrant examination could

_t be performed without weld surface preparation.

The results of the re-inspection program will be reported on or before June 30, 1981.

Yours very truly, a
