ENCLOSURE (1) i-RESPONSE TO NRC GENERIC LETTER 89-10 frEM l NRC REOUEST Generic Letter 89-10, Item I states, in part; Each licensee shall advise the NRC in writing, within 6 months of the date of this letter, that the above schedule and recommendations will be met. For any recommendation that it cannot meet or proposes not to meet, the licensee shal' inform the NRC and provide a technical justification, including any proposed alternative action, in writing."

DG&E RESPONSE j

We plan on meeting all of the schedules and implementing all of the recommendations discussed in GL 89-10. The Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant Motor Operated Valve Program was initiated in late 1988 in anticipation of the issuance of the Generic Letter.

The first refueling outage that will be counted for the purposes of meeting the schedule time limits of the GL will be the next refueling outage for each Unit.

(Note: Unit 2 is currently in a refueling outage which began in March of 1989. As specified in Item k of the GL, the current Unit 2 outage need not be counted in meeting the schedule time limits, because it started within 6 months of the issuance of the Generic Letter.).
