Subject:
Dear Sir:
Reference (b) requested that certain information be submitted by operating reactor licensees within various time f rames imposed by that Reference.
Reference (c), which corrected errors and omissions in Reference (b), was received by Vermont Yankee nine weeks af ter the issuance of Reference (b).
Although the errors and omissions of Reference (b) made it impossible to respond to that document until corrections were received, the original time frames for the submittal of information were not extended to compensate for the nine week delay caused by these errors.
Since Reference (c) was received, Vermont Yankee has been pursuing a course of action which would allow us to respond in a responsible manner. We have retained a consultant to aid us in preparing the required submittal and have supplied the data necessary for them to proceed with this effort. However, our consultant informs us that it will not be possible to comply with the original submittal date requested in Reference (b), and that an additonal two months will be required to prepare the response.
For the reasons discussed above, Vermont Yankee proposes to defer the required submittal until August 31, 1981. We feel that this delay is justified in light of the original delay encountered in receiving Reference (c), and in light of the relative importance of this issue in comparison to other work currently being done by our staff.
