NOTICE OF VIOLATION Cincinnati Gas and Electric Docket No. 50-358 Company Based on the inspection conducted on May 1-30, 1980, it appears that certain of your activities were in noncompliance with NRC requirements, as noted below. This item is an infraction.
10 CFR 50, Appendix B, Criterion XIII, requires that measures shall be established to control the storage, cleaning and preservation of installed equipment in accordance with work and inspection procedures to prevent damage or deterioration.
The W. H. Zimmer FSAR Chapter 17, Section 17.1.13.2 states in part that m
"KEI procedures and equipment manufacturer's instructions prescribe controls for the onsite handling, storage, cleaning, and preservation of material and equipment in accordance with work and inspection instruction as necessary to prevent damage or deterioration."
Contrary to the above, the NRC inspector observed during a plant tour on May 7, 1980, that many cable trays in the reactor building and cable spreading room contained mater #.al which was detrimental to safety-related cabling.
