SURRY POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2, SUBSEQUENT LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION SAFETY REVIEW -
DOCUMENTATION OF DRAFT THIRD ROUND REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION By letter dated October 15, 2018 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No.ML18291A842), as supplemented by letters dated January 29, 2019 (ADAMS Accession No. ML19042A137), April 2, 2019 (ADAMS Accession No. ML19095A666),
and June 10, 2019 (ADAMS Accession No. ML19168A028), Virginia Electric and Power Company (Dominion Energy Virginia or Dominion) submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or staff) an application to renew the Renewed Facility Operating License Nos. DPR-32 and DPR-37 for the Surry Power Station, Units 1 and 2 (SPS). Dominion submitted the application pursuant to Title10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part54, Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants, for subsequent license renewal.
On September 18 - 20, 2019, the NRC staff transmitted four draft 3rd round requests for additional information (RAIs) to Dominion to support the need for additional clarification, as related to the following technical review areas:
Selective Leaching (ADAMS Accession No. ML19283B628)
Open Cycle Cooling Water (ADAMS Accession No. ML19283B623)
Buried and Underground Piping and Tanks (ADAMS Accession No. ML19283B627)
On September 24, 2019, a clarification call was held between the NRC staff and Dominion regarding the details of the four RAIs. With the exception of one of the RAIs related to Buried and Underground Piping and Tanks, B2.1.27-2b, Dominion committed to providing the additional information to address the RAIs in their upcoming annual update, expected October 15, 2019. For RAI B2.1.27-2b, the NRC staff identified the need for additional follow-up questions and offered Dominion additional follow-up clarification calls.

On October 1, 2019, the NRC staff and Dominion held a follow-up clarification call on RAI B2.1.27-2b, where the NRC staff provided clarification of the additional needs related to the technical subject.
On October 2, 2019, the NRC staff transmitted additional draft information requests associated with RAI B2.1.27-2b to Dominion (ADAMS Accession No. ML19283B625).
On October 3, 2019, the NRC staff and Dominion held another follow-up clarification call on RAI B2.1.27-2b and the additional draft requests transmitted on October 2, 2019. During this call, Dominion committed to respond to RAI B2.1.27-2b and the additional requests related to RAI B2.1.27-2b in their annual update, expected October 15, 2019.
