Subject: Combined Inspection 50-272/81-12 and 50-311/81-11
This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. L. J. Norrholm
of this office on May 1 - May 31, 1981 at Salem Nuclear Generating Station,
Units 1 and 2 of activities authorized by NRC License Nos. DPR-70 and DPR-75
and to the discussions of our findings held by Mr. L. Norrholm with Mr. H.
Midura of your staff periodically during the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the Office of Inspection
and Enforcement Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within
these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures
and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the
inspector.
With.in the scope of th.is inspection, no items of*noncarnpliance were observed.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commi.ssion*s regulations, a copy of th.i.s
letter and th.e enclosed inspection report will be placed in th.e NRC's Public
Document Room.
If th.is report contains any information that you Cor your con-
