27780 Blue Star Memorial Highway, Covert, Ml 49043 April 17, 1991 Nuclear Regulatory Commission Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555 GB Slade General Manager DOCKET 50-255 - LICENSE DPR PALISADES PLANT - COMPLIANCE WITH PRESSURIZED THERMAL SHOCK REGULATION 10CFR50.61 AND REGULATORY GUIDE 1.99, REVISION 2 (TAC 59970) - ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Consumers Power Company's May 17, 1990 submittal provided an analysis of the Palisades reactor vessel fast neutron fluence and pressurized thermal shock reference temperatures. That analysis used calculations performed using the DOT 4.3 computer code.
Subsequently, on October 25, 1990 during a telephone conversation between Consumers Power Company staff and NRC staff, Consumers Power Company was asked to provide additional information regarding our DOT 4.3 methodology and uncertainty analysis and their effect on the September, 2001 date when the Palisades reactor is predicted to exceed the pressurized thermal shock (PTS) screening criteria of 10CFR50.61.
The attachment to this letter, "Benchmarking and Validation of In-House DOT Calculation Methodology," provides that information.
