Dear Mr. Brown:

A preliminary review of the public warning system submittal for the Palo Verde NGS offsite EPZ has been completed by our communications staff.

The Acoustic Technology Enc. system design, incorporating some 36 sirens, appears to meet the requirements identified in NUREG 0654/FEMA REP-1 regarding unit placement and population coverage.

We will require further technical specifications and related maintenance and test data upon development, installation, and testing of the system.

Mr. Nauman, project officer for Palo Verde, will serve as the Region point of contact regarding further evaluation of this system.

Please contact him should you have any questions.

Sincerely, Robert L. Vickers Regional Director
