St. Lucie Unit 1 Docket No. 50-335 Steam Generator Runtime Analysis

'I The purpose of this letter is to provide the NRC with the Florida Power

& Light Company (FPL) schedule for reporting the results of the NRC requested dose assessment analysis.

Your letter dated January 23, 1997, requested FPL to recalculate the dose assessment submitted with the Unit 1 steam generator runtime analysis using the methodology guidance provided in NRC Standard Review Plan (SRP)(NUREG-0800)

Section 15.1.5.

The response was requested within thirty days of the date of your letter (i.e.,

by February 24, 1997).

After evaluating the scope of the requested analysis with our contractors, it was determined that approximately eight man-weeks of contract resources will be required to perform the calculation and provide the results to FPL.

Therefore, additional time is required to accommodate coordination with our contractor (APTECH) and APTECH's subcontractor (SAIC) and to provide for verification of the results.

FPL will respond to your" information request by April 4, 1997. It should be noted that the St. Lucie Unit 1 design and licensing bases predate the SRP methodology and therefore the original analyses were not calculated in accordance with the SRP.

FPL and its contractors have begun calculating the dose assessment portion of our runtime analysis using the methodology requested by the staff.

Please contact us if there are any questions about this submittal.

Very truly yours, J.
