Dear Hr. Keiser:

SUBJECT'VALUATION OF 9X9 FUEL Il'EPACT ON THE STABILITY OF SUSQUEHANNA UNIT 2 AT THE END OF CYCLE 4, SUSQUEHANNA STEAtl ELECTRIC STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 At the time of the original loading of the Advanced Nuclear Fuels (ANF) 9X9 fuel, Pennsylvania Power and Light Company (PPIIL or the licensee) agreed to provide the NRC staff with the GETAB data on each core until a full load of 9X9 fuel was utilized.

The staff agreed to provide PPSL a copy of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) noise analysis performed with the data.

If there are any questions regarding this letter please contact me on (301) 492-1447.

S in cere ly, This letter transmits a report documenting the results of the ORNL analysis of noise data recorded at the Susquehanna Unit 2 boiling water reactor (BWR) at the end of operational Cycle 4 which used a full core of the ANF 9X9 fuel.

The report concludes that the use of the 9X9 fuel does not produce significant changes in stability behavior as compared to BWRs loaded with standard 8X8 fuel.

A copy of the report is enclosed.
