REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PALO VERDE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1, 2, AND 3 PROPOSED EXTENSION REQUEST REGARDING RESPONSE TO MARCH 12, 2012, REQUEST FOR INFORMATION, ENCLOSURE 2, RECOMMENDATION 2.1, FLOOD HAZARD REEVALUATION REPORT DOCKET NOS. 50-528, 50-529, AND 50-530 By letter dated March 12, 2012 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML12053A340), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued a request for information pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Section 50.54(f), regarding, in part, a flooding hazard revaluation report for Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1, 2 and 3 (PVNGS). In that letter, the required response schedule for the report was specified to be in accordance with the NRCs prioritization plan, which corresponds to March 12, 2014, for PVNGS. By letter dated March 10, 2014 (ADAMS Accession No. ML14076A074), Arizona Public Service Company (APS, licensee) requested an extension for the completion of the report to allow for additional review and validation of the flooding hazard reevaluation results by independent consultants. In the letter dated March 10, 2014, the licensee requested a nine month extension, to December 12, 2014, for submission of the flood hazard reevaluation report. In order for the NRC staff to complete its review of the extension request, a response to the following request for additional information is requested.
- 1) The NRC staff requests that APS provide a more detailed breakdown of the activities and analyses that remain to be conducted, as well as the associated schedule for those activities and analyses. The NRC staff suggests that a Gantt chart or similar format would be an effective means of communicating the schedule information.
