- 1. IP2 -Condensate Storage Tank Return Line leakage (Update)
(From Region staff via E-mail) - The agency continues to monitor Entergy's actions to repair the leakage associated with a buried portion of piping associated with the Unit 2 CST. On February 19, Entergy confirmed the leakage location is the 8" CST return line (i.e., schedule 40 carbon steel pipe, 0.322 inches nominal wall thickness). Entergy's visual examination of the piping determined that the source of the leakage was a hole at which the external pipe coating was absent (approximately 1.5" by 1" area); and the leakage rate was approximately 15 - 17 gpm. Based on the examination results of the pipe, Entergy will perform an ASME code repair by cutting out the affected section and replace it with a section of new piping. As of this morning, Entergy has isolated the leakage area and initiated the repair actions, and expects that the repairs will' be completed within 24-48 hours. Entergy will examine the removed portion of pipe to establish the cause of the degradation and initiate efforts to determine the extent of conditiOn.
