By letters dated October 14, 2008, February 12, 2009, April 17, 2009, and June 17, 2009, Southern California Edison (SCE), the licensee for the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS), Units 2 and 3, provided responses to Generic Letter (GL) 2008-01, Managing Gas Accumulation in Emergency Core Cooling, Decay Heat Removal, and Containment Spray Systems, dated January 11, 2008.
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has reviewed your responses and has determined that the information specified in the attached Request for Additional Information (RAI) is needed for the staff to complete its evaluation of this generic issue for SONGS, Units 2 and 3. In order for the staff to complete its review in a timely manner, we request that you submit your response to the enclosed RAI no later than December 11, 2009. Please contact me if SCE would like to have a conference call to discuss the RAI.
