50-269, 270 and 287 NRC Inspection Report 05000269/2008010, 05000270/2008010, and 05000287/2008010; Preliminary Greater Than Green Finding Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC (Duke) received the subject Choice Letter dated November 21, 2008.
The Choice Letter provides the option of either responding to the potential finding in writing or at a Regulatory Conference.
This letter is to inform you of the decision to present the Duke perspectives at a Regulatory Conference.
The Choice Letter indicated that the Regulatory Conference should be held within 30 days of receipt of the letter.
Due to the complex nature of this specific finding, completion of the Oconee Unit 2 refueling outage involying key resources needed to support the conference, and pending
- holidays, Duke hereby requests an extension beyond 30 days and proposes that the conference be scheduled for the week of January 19, 2009.
Based on discussions with Jim
- Moorman, Thursday, January 22,
- 2009, has been selected as a mutually acceptable date.
This additional time is needed to thoroughly evaluate the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) assumptions and inputs described in the Phase 3 Risk Assessment contained in the subject Choice Letter.
Duke intends to provide NRC with www.duke-energy.com
