New Westinghouse NSAL Hi Rick, Pete
- FYI, Westinghouse recently released NSAL-03-09 regarding additional steam generator water uncertainties.
Briefly, this NSAL identified new error terms which may reduce the setpoint margin for the steam generator narrow range level HI-2 and LO-2 reactor trip setpoints, and may also affect the initial conditions for certain transients.
This calc is only applicable to Bwd and BY unit 2, since these are the only units having Westinghouse SGs.
EC 344976 was a common Bwd/BY evaluation performed in response to this NSAL.
This evaluation concluded that the existing uncertainty calculation contained sufficent margin to bound these new error terms.
If you haven't already, you may want to look at this NSAL to make sure BY is
.ok.
In particular, you may want to assure that BY appropriately considered any affect from the recent overpower issues with respect to the transients considered in this NSAL.
I briefly took at look a the Bwd U2 AMAG overpower LER and it looks like there would be no impact; however, I am not as familar with the BY case.
