The unit has been online for 15 days Indian Point 2 is operating at full power and has been online for 78 days Emergency Plan Drill May 16 Entergy and the State of New York conducted an emergency response drills on May
- 16. The drill scenario involved a severe accident with some security complications.
The Joint Information Center was activated for the drill as were the Emergency Operations Facility at the plant.
Drills are run periodically to train responders and test, notification and decision making capabilities.
Entergy Makes Notification on Sirens Very heavy winds, rain and lightening in the lower Hudson Valley affected 26 of the 156 sirens in the Indian Point siren system last night. This is the current operational system. As required by regulations, Entergy performed an 8-hour notification to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission since more than 10 percent of the sirens were unavailable due to the storm.
The counties in the 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone were notified of the system disruption. The sirens that were out-of-service are located in Westchester and Rockland counties.
All but five of the sirens knocked out by the storm have been returned to service.
Entergy is working to effect repairs.
