Dear Mr. Nesmith,
This letter is to request an extension for the Temporary Use of a Filter Truck for Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station, PWS 7670905. The Emergency Permit was initially granted by the PADEP on December 31, 2006. The extension is requested due to the fact that river turbidity and river temperatures were not favorable during most of the time the clarifier bed was trying to be established. An extension of this permit will allow for additional time to establish the clarifier bed while the filter truck is in service.
The temporary clarifier is producing water consistently
<0.2 ntu; filters are backwashed at 0.6 ntu. Once the clarifier bed is formed and established the clarifier will be placed into service to provide make up water to the domestic water system.
Peach Bottom is requesting an extension to February 28, 2007, in order to provide additional time for the clarifier to recover following cleaning and maintenance.
