Re: Exelon plans news release to update Braidwood tritium issue Thanks, Jan. I'll let Pete know as well.
I'm sure you are aware - we received a request fro rro sample their well (after they originally declined our offer). We sampled it yesturday and are orarding the sample to ORISE today. The licensee also reported to us this morning that the "puddle" -along the discharge line'identified last week was sampled and found to be negative for tritium. One sample - just north of Smiley Road but south of the pond came back with..a result of approx. 220,000 pCVI. We will be issuing the revised comm plan (which has been in constant revision since the IEPA meeting) today. Will forward everyone a copy when signed by Steve.

Exelon Generation Co. plans to issue a news release on Thursday with a status update on the offsite tritium contamination at the Braidwood Nuclear Power Station, The news release will discuss a Notice of Violation issued to the company by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, the previously reported identification of measureable tritium in one offsite residential drinking water well, and additional sampling results from onsite and offsite monitoring wells recently installed by the company. The utility has also received an extensive inquiry from the Kankakee IL Daily Journal and expects a news story will run later this week.
