Chicago area news media continue to cover the offsite tritium contamination at the Braidwood Nuclear Power Station, which was featured in a Page 1 story in Wednesday's Chicago Tribune. Exelon, which operates Braidwood, held a news briefing for area news media this afternoon so further coverage is expected on Thursday. Exelon will also meet with nearby residents on Thursday evening, and there will likely be news media coverge of the meeting. Region IlIl has responded to inquiries from the news media and the financial community on the issue which first surfaced in November. The licensee has issued two news releases, and Region IlIl has issued three Preliminary Notifications on the tritium contamin. "on.
