CLOSURE OF TAC NO. MC2644 REGARDING LICENSING BASIS FOR THE SERVICE WATER SYSTEM DISCHARGE FLOW PATH FOR THE DAVIS-BESSE NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNIT 1
Dear Mr. Bezilla:
By letter dated April 2, 2004, you submitted information concerning your evaluation of the licensing basis for the service water system discharge flow path for the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1.
As stated in your letter of April 2, 2004, the issue concerning the licensing basis arose during an NRC inspection and was documented in NRC Inspection Report 50-346/2003-010, dated March 5, 2004, as a violation (50-346/2003-010-01) of very low safety significance (Green).
You then directly replied to the violation by letter dated April 5, 2004, accepting the violation and describing your corrective actions.
By letter dated December 14, 2004, from NRC Region III (J. Grobe), the NRC acknowledged receipt of your April 5, 2004, letter (and unrelated letter dated June 18, 2004) and stated that We have reviewed your corrective actions and have no further questions at this time. These corrective actions will be examined during future inspections.
Because your letter of April 2, 2004, originated as a result of the inspection and violation discussed in your letter of April 5, 2004, which has been replied to by NRC letter dated December 14, 2004, and since any additional NRC followup will be through the NRC inspection program, we conclude that your letter of April 2, 2004, does not require a reply. Therefore, we are closing TAC No. MC2644.
