.J2UL 20 P1 8: 38 Rules and Directives Bran ch ae,' '64 Ad1-Pierce Manufacturing 2600 American Drive P.O. Box 2017 Appleton, WI 54912 Chief, Rules and Directives Branch Division of Administration Services, Office of Administration Mailstop T-6d59 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555-0001 Nuclear Regulatory Commission:

On behalf of Pierce Manufacturing, the largest fire apparatus manufacturer in the nation, I am writing this letter in support of the license renewal for the Point Beach Nuclear Plant.

Pierce Manufacturing consumes a large volume of both natural gas and electricity in the production of our product and has had a steady growth over the last several years. With this in mind, a reliable source of energy is vital to our business and its growth here in Wisconsin. If industrial companies of Wisconsin are going to continue to grow, the demands for both electricity and natural gas will continue to increase.

Current trends to build almost all the new electric generation with natural gas across the nation creates increased concerns with the natural gas supplies. If this license renewal is not approved approximately one-sixth of the states currently generated electrical power will be lost and a higher priced alternative will need to be used in its place. By maintaining a diverse portfolio with nuclear energy as part of Wisconsin's energy supply we can continue to create a reliable product at a reasonable rate. 'i Please support We Energies and the state of Wisconsin industry by supporting a diverse use of resources in the production of electrical energy. The Point Beach Nuclear plant is an important part of keeping Wisconsin business competitive in the nation and around the world.

Sincerely, Daniel J. Sutheimer Facilities Manager Pierce Manufacturing t/gDK
