RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS OTTAWA COUNTY, OHIO BENTON TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES November 17,2003 The regular meeting of the Benton Township Board of Trustees was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Wesley Gahler with the following officers present: Wesley Gahler, James Buhro, Kenneth Leist, Trustees and Jane Price-Gahler, Clerk. James Lowe and Rhonda Pavlica were present during portions of the meeting.
RESOLUTION NO. 2003-12 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE RESTART OF DAVISBESSE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT Mr. Buhro moved the adoption of the following Resolution:
WHEREAS, The Nuclear Regulatory Commission 0350 process to evaluate the readiness for the restart of the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Plant has been a thorough process and that we are confident that they will continue to effectively evaluate the Nuclear Power Plant after restart, and WHEREAS, The condition of the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Plant is greatly improved and is now enhanced from its previous state to be considered better than it ever has been, and WHEREAS, The employees of the of the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Plant are diligently working to ensure that there is never another problem as experienced in the past, and WHEREAS, The community is confident that the continued oversight of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission after the restart of the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Plant and their willingness to continue to involve the County in the oversight process is beneficial, and WHEREAS, The First Energy Nuclear Operating Company has agreed to continue and fhther develop a closer working relationship with Ottawa County through the County Administrator, Jere Witt, being appointed to the Restart Overview Panel and the Company Nuclear Review Board as an independent oversight, now THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That The Benton Township Board of Trustees, Ottawa County, Ohio, supports and encourages the safe restart of the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Plant.
Mr. Leist seconded the Resolution and the roll being called upon its adoption the vote resulted as follows:
