DUKE ENERGY CORPORATION NUCLEAR QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM
Dear Mr. Tuckman:
By letter dated December 18, 2002, the Duke Energy Corporation submitted Amendment number 32 to its Duke Energy Corporation Topical Report, Duke-1-A, on the Quality Assurance (QA) Program for the Oconee, McGuire and Catawba Nuclear Stations. Your letter states that you have determined that the changes constitute a reduction in commitment to the QA program and, therefore, these changes must be submitted to and approved by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff prior to implementation in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 50.54(4).
Your letter dated December 18, 2002, was actually received by our staff on or after January 2, 2003. As we discussed with J. M. Frye on January 27, 2003, we anticipate preparing a request for additional information, if necessary, by March 30, 2003, and we anticipate completing the review within sixty (60) days after receiving your response.
