April 30, 2002 Ms. Karla Spangler, Principal Oak Harbor High School 11661 West State Route 163 Oak Harbor, OH 43449 Dear Ms. Spangler.
Thank you for allowing the Nuclear Regulatory Commission the opportunity to conduct the April 5, 2002, public meeting at the Oak Harbor High School Auditorium. The meeting was held to communicate to FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (the licensee for the Davis-Besse Nuclear Station) the NRC Augmented Inspection Teams preliminary findings regarding the loss of pressure boundary material from the Davis-Besse reactor vessel head. The meeting was well attended by over two hundred members of the general public, state and local officials, and media representatives. Thanks, in large part, to your willingness to allow the meeting to be conducted in the Oak Harbor High School auditorium, the meeting was successful in communicating important issues to both the licensee and the public.
I also want to acknowledge the assistance provided by Mr. Robert Stucker in setting up the auditorium and in operating the sound system during the meeting. Mr. Stuckers outstanding performance greatly contributed to the quality of the meeting.
