SUMMARY
OF THE APRIL 5, 2002, MEETING WITH DAVIS BESSE NUCLEAR POWER STATION TO DISCUSS PERFORMANCE On April 5, 2002, a public meeting was held at the Oak Harbor High School, Oak Harbor, OH, between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Davis Besse Nuclear Power Station management and staff. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss NRCs assessment of the Davis Besse Nuclear Power Stations performance for the period of April 1, 2001 through December 31, 2001. In addition, Mr. H. Bergandahl, the Vice President - Nuclear, and his staff discussed the licensee's own assessment of performance for the calendar year 2001 and focus areas for the calendar year 2002.
During the NRC presentation, an overall assessment of Davis Besses performance was provided. As explained in the Annual Assessment letter from NRC to Mr. Howard Bergendahl, dated March 4, 2002, (reference ADAMS accession number ML020700117) the Davis Besse Nuclear Power Station operated in a manner that preserved public health and safety and fully met all cornerstone objectives. Before adjourning the meeting, the NRC provided the opportunity for members of the public to ask questions. There were several questions asked by members of the public during or following the meeting, some of which pertained to this assessment period and others which pertained to the Augmented Inspection Team exit meeting that was conducted earlier in the day.
