SUBJECT:
RISK-INFORMED OPERATIONAL DECISION MANAGEMENT COURSE AT THE MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY On June 15, 2001, I made a presentation at the Risk-Informed Operational Decision Management Course at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on risk-based analysis of reactor operating experience. My slides are attached. The course is jointly sponsored by MIT and INPO. Again this year, the class had a number of high level management personnel attending. A list of attendees is also attached.
The course is a one week program (course schedule attached) for utility decision makers starting with the basics of reliability and risk assessment, examples of tools and applications, and concluding with Operating Experience Risk Analysis Branch (OERAB) insights regarding the implications of operating experience. This is the fourth year that George Apostolakis has invited us to be the concluding presentation to this course. There was considerable interest in and discussion of the results of our work.
This effort helps to connect our work with our external stakeholders and provides credibility for our work. I expect we will be invited back again next year.
