Subject:

Special Report - Accumulated Actuation Cycles This special report is being submitted pursuant to the requirements of Hope Creek Technical Specification (TS) 3.5.1, "Emergency Core Cooling Systems, Action g, due to the Emergency Core Cooling System (ECCS) actuating and injecting water into the reactor coolant system (RCS).

On May 29, 2007, Hope Creek experienced a partial loss of feedwater due to a vital bus slow transfer. This loss of feedwater coupled with a manual reactor scram caused reactor water level to reach -28 inches (Level 2) and High Pressure Coolant Injection (HPCI) initiated and injected water into the RCS.

Including the May 29, 2007 event, Hope Creek has experienced 21 HPCI Injections (actuation cycles). Based on these 21 HPCI injections, the HPCI injection nozzle cumulative usage factor has been determined to be 0.853, which remains below the limit of 1.0.
