Notification of Permanent Cessation of Power Operations James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant Docket No. 50-333 License No. DPR-059
Dear Sir or Madam:
On November 2, 2015, Entergy Nuclear FitzPatrick, LLC (Entergy) announced that it plans to close the James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant in late 2016 or early 2017the projected end of the current fuel cycledue to current continued deteriorating economics of the facility.
Entergy reported this information to the New York Independent System Operator and to the New York Public Service Commission.
In view of the November 2, 201 5, announcement and pursuant to 1 0 CFR 50.82(a)(1)(i),
Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. certifies to the NRC that it has decided to permanently cease power operations at the James A. FitzPatrick Power Plant at the end of the current fuel cycle. A more specific date cannot be provided at this time in order to allow for fuel coastdown variables.
Assuming no material change to present circumstances, Entergy will submit a supplement to this letter certifying the cessation date in accordance with 1 0 CFR 50.82(a)(1 )(i) and I 0 CFR 50.4(b)(8).
