Dear Commissioners and Staff:

Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) Company submitted two Licensee Event Reports (LERs) to the NRC related to emergency diesel generator actuations upon loss of 230 kV startup power (References 1 and 2). In each LER, PG&E indicated that it would provide a supplement report to specify the cause and corrective actions by September 15, 2011, following the completion of a root cause evaluation (RCE). However, the RCE report has not yet been approved.

Based on the current plan for completion, the LER supplements are expected to be submitted by October 31,2011. PG&E discussed this delay with the NRC Project Manager for Diablo Canyon Power Plant on September 15, 2011.
