OPERATOR-ORIENTED IMPROVEMENTS
Dear Sir:
The purpose of this letter is to transmit additional descriptive materials related to the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station Safety Enhancement Program (SEP) which Boston Edison Company (BECo) is implementing pursuant to 10 CFR 50.59.
Attached for your information is detailed documentation addressing operator-oriented improvements involving emergency operating procedures and training.
BECo provided this information to the NRC in preliminary form during the August 4, 1987 meeting on the SEP.
The documentation submitted here supersedes the preliminary versions of the information previously provided.
A summary description of the BECo Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP) Training Program is also attached for your information.
It describes the program goals and major elements and the manner in which the E0P training is evaluated and revised.
Following the NRC generic approval of the BHROG Emergency Procedure Guidelines (Rev. 4), BECo plans to prepare a Procedure Generation Package and submit it for NRC review in accordance with discussions held during the August 4, 1987 meeting between J. E. Howard (BECo) and R. H. Hessman (NRC).
