Safety Evaluation Input for Section 3.13, "Threaded Fasteners" Attachments: Joel S Wiebe.vcf SSER Supplement 21 to NUREG-0847, Section 1.7, identified Section 3.13.0, "Threaded Fasteners," as an issue, but did not list the issue status.Bulletin 82-002, "Degradation of Threaded Fasteners in the Reactor Coolant Pressure Boundary of PWR Plants," addressed threaded fasteners. In TVA's letter dated March 20, 2008, TVA committed to implement Bulletin 82-02 in Unit 2 with the same approach as Unit 1. NRC inspection report 50-390/85-08 and 50-391/85-08 documented receipt and review of TVA's February 6, 1985, letter responding to Bulletin 82-02 and closed Bulletin 82-02 based upon the response and the inspector verification of TVA actions.
The staff considers the approach for addressing this issue to be acceptable based upon TVA's commitment to implement Bulletin 82-02 for Unit 2 with the same approach as Unit 1.
