SONGS Lessons Learned

  • Evaluate lessons learned in the area of vendor oversight
  • 2 recommendations identified:

-Perform pilot design-related inspections at vendor facilities prior to and/or during the fabrication process for safety-related major plant modifications

-Develop identification guidelines and screening criteria to determine:

  • When a plant change can be considered a major plant modification
  • When a major plant modification should be subject to a vendor

inspection

  • 1stpilot design related aspect inspection at Equipos Nucleares, S.A (ENSA) in Santander, Spain
  • At least 1 other planned 5

6SONGS Lessons Learned

  • Conclusions

-No specific findings identified related to issues in the design review, design change process, design documentation, or design related software at ENSA
