Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN: Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555-0001 Palisades Nuclear Plant Docket 50-255 License No. DPR-20 Generic Letter 2003-01: Control Room Habitability - Revised Commitments By letter dated November 25, 2003, Nuclear Management Company, LLC (NMC) provided schedules for completion of commitments associated with generic letter (GL) 2003-01 for four NMC plants. The completion of all committed actions is dependent on performing control room envelope in-leakage testing in accordance with ASTM E741 "Standard Test Method for Determining Air Change in a Single Zone by Means of a Tracer Gas Dilution." The performance of this testing is a function of vendor availability and the completion of plant site preparation activities.
The Palisades Nuclear Plant has experienced an extended refueling outage due to emergent reactor vessel head nozzle repair work. The outage extension resulted in delays in completing preparation activities necessary to perform the ASTM E741 test and kept the plant in a configuration that would not allow the testing to take place until after the vendor's committed test schedule. Consequently, NMC is providing a revised schedule of commitments for the Palisades Nuclear Plant. The commitments have been revised to reflect the next appropriate opportunity for the vendor to perform the testing and for the necessary preparation activities to be completed.
