- Bill, Good to hear from you. We will publish the draft SEIS by December 15. We are in the final stages of review of the document now. It may already be too late to include any information we get from the epidemiologists in the DSEIS. However, we will certainly consider the information before the final SEIS in August 2007. We will conduct public meetings on Jan. 31, 2007, in Brattleboro, to discuss the DSEIS.
Based on our earlier discussions with you and the epidemiologists, I do not expect the information to show increases in cancer around Vermont Yankee. If the data and analyses from the epidemiologists does show any significant findings, the NRC wants to know right away. This would be an issue, not just for license renewal, but for current operation as well.

Hi Rich, I hope everything is well with you.
I met today with our Health Surveillance epidemiologists. They are working on various VY projects include one for you that may identify incidence and mortality for cancer near VY. Though they may have data on other cancers, they are focusing on leukemia, adult and pediatric, and thyroid cancer.
I would like to tell them when this needs to be submitted to you for inclusion into the EIS. What date should I use?

The Department of Homeland Security is coming in next week, too, and I am getting invited to activities down in Vernon on the 8th, 9th and 10th. I will not go each day, because I want to give you some time while you are in Burlington. I have asked Dr. Lohff to hold a time on 8/9 at this point, and also to look at Friday, 8/11, as that may be my best day.

I am in Brattleboro at VY hearings. The NRC would like a brief meeting with cognizant VDH staff regarding health effects around VY.
This is relevant to their draft of an environmental impact statement for VY license extension.
They are available next Tuesday and Wednesday PM or next Thursday or Friday AM. There primary endpoint is cancer, but all health effects are on the table.
Could we put something together for their time in Burlington 8/8-8/10?
