RECEIPT AND AVAILABILITY OF THE LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR THE DIABLO CANYON NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2
Dear Mr. Conway:
On November 24, 2009, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) received the Pacific Gas & Electric Companys application for renewal of Operating Licenses Nos. DPR-80 and DPR-82 for the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2, respectively. We are currently performing an acceptance review for docketing in accordance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Section 2.101 (10 CFR 2.101), and will notify you of the results of our review. Should the NRC staff determine that the application is acceptable for docketing, a schedule for the review will then be provided to you.
We have enclosed for your information a copy of the notice relating to your application that is being sent to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Kimberly J. Green and Mr. Nathaniel Ferrer as the project managers for the safety review, and Mr. Andrew L. Stuyvenberg as the project manager for the environmental review of your license renewal application. Please forward copies of all license renewal correspondence to Ms. Green and Mr. Stuyvenberg. Mr. Alan Wang continues to remain responsible for the project management of all issues other than license renewal for Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2.
