Sequoyah Intervention Ruling July 5 Chairman Alex S. Karlin, Administrative Judge US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Panel Mail Stop T-3F23 Washington, DC 20555-0001
Dear Judge Karlin,
I'm writing in regard to your July 5th ruling related to the intervention concerning the relicensing of Sequoyah Nuclear Plant for an additional 20 years. I am opposed to your ruling and would appreciate having the opportunity to offer comments. Please hold a public comment meeting in the vicinity of Sequoyah or Chattanooga for the local citizens to have input concerning this important issue.
I live downstream of Sequoyah and my drinking water comes from the Tennessee River. I live about 55 miles from Sequoyah, and 40 miles downwind from Brown's Ferry. I am very concerned about the safety and security of all of the TVA nuclear facilities. Serious scrutiny must be given to the relicensing of all of the plants that were designed for a 40 year lifetime and are full of components and systems that were designed for a 40 year use. This is a critical issue for those of us living downwind and downstream. If there is a major accident, we will be lucky to escape unharmed and may lose everything we have and never be able to return.
Please give careful attention.
