Docket No. 50-206 Automatic Initiation of the AFWS San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 By letter dated October 16, 1981, we provided information requested by members of your staff regarding electrical equipment which is part of the AFWS automatic initiation and flow indication circuit modifications that was installed as controls grade and will be upgraded to safety grade. This letter is to inform you that there also exists mechanical equipment which is now controls grade and will be upgraded to safety grade. This equipment consists of:
- 1) the relief valve on the steam supply to the turbine driven AFWS pump, RV-3206;
- 2) the positioner and air set for the AFWS flow control valves FCV 2300, 2301, 3300, 3301;
- 3) the backup nitrogen supply for the flow control valves identified in 2 above.
It is now estimated that the required upgrading of this equipment can be completed prior to startup from the next refueling outage.
