Dear Mr. Gammill:
This letter is an addendum to our response 10-9-79, Serial 543, to your 8-8-79 inquiry on Davis-Besse Unit No. 1 bus voltages. The 10-9-79 response proposed a test program, for which this letter summarizes the test scope and schedule. The scope of our testing program is divided into two phases, and the tests in each phase represent worst case condi-tions without entering technical specification limitations. Tests are to mesh with previcasly planned station activities, and it is possible to provide only approximate schedules here.
Phase I testing is scheduled prior to the refueling outage presently scheduled to begin in March, 1980. The scope covers power operation with one startup transformer and two bus-tie transformers, and the concern is undervoltage.
Specific test cases are 12021, 12121, and 12221. Please refer to Appendix 3 of our 10-9-79 submittal for explanation of the case numbering system.
Phase II testing is scheduled during the refueling outage. The scope covers operation during refueling with two startup transformers and two bus-tie transformers, and the concern is overvoltage. The specific test case is 22020.
Upon completion of the two phases of the test program, the results of the tests will be evaluated and compared to the computer analyses. The final report to be submitted to the NRC is scheduled to be completed by August 1, 1980. This report will include a description of the test program, the results of the test program and a comparison between the computer analyses and test results.
