Narrative

Report for LER 50-321/1981-060 While the plant was in steady state operation at 608 MWe, ID11-K6198, Reactor Building Stack Monitor "B", was found to be inoperative.

Tech Specs Section 3.2.3.3 requires both channels to be operative.

Redundant monitor 1011-K619A was operable.

Plant operation was not affected as a result of this avent.

The health and safety of the public was not affected. This is a non-repetitive event.

The cause of the_ event has been attributed to component failure.

The failure was due to broken photo multiplier tube. The component was replaced and monitor recalibrated and instrument returned to service.

The unit is now in full compliance with the requirements.

A generic review revealed no inherent problems.
