SHEARON HARRIS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT UNITS 2 AND 3 COMBINED LICENSE APPLICATION EXEMPTION FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF 10 CFR 50.71(e)(3)(iii) (TAC NO. RP0408)
Dear Mr. Snider:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has approved the one-time exemption from specific requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 50, Section 71(e)(3)(iii) for the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (HAR) Units 2 and 3, Combined License (COL)
Application. During a conference call with Duke Energy Progress on January 21, 2020, the NRC made note of the potential for extensive review and noticing when Duke Energy Progress requests to reactivate the HAR COL Application for two Westinghouse Advanced Passive 1000 plants. This action is in response to your request dated December 2, 2019.
A copy of the exemption can be found at Agencywide Documents Access and Management Systems (ADAMS) Accession No. ML20050G066. The exemption has been forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
