DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 REPLY TO IE INSPECTION REPORT NOS.

50-266/82-19 AND 50-301/82-19 POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 This is in response to your September 20, 1982 letter regarding the routine safeguards inspection conducted by Messrs. J. Belanger and J. Knicely of your office on August 9-13, 1982.

As you indicate in your report, certain activities appeared to be in noncompliance with NRC requirements.

Items 1,

2, 3, and Sa were corrected prior to the completion of the inspection and no reply to these items is required.

Regarding Items 4 and 5b, a written response is addressed in the enclosure to this letter, including the corrective action taken, corrective steps to be taken to avoid further items of noncompliance, and dates when full compliance will be achieved.

Your report also identified two concerns relating to personnel access controls to the protected area and maintenance of security-related equipment.
