Docket 158 License R-83
Dear Mr. Thomas:
The purpose of this writing is to inform you that the Texas A&M Nuclear Science Center Reactor (NSCR) has officially satisfied the requirements of Category III Physical Security following the shipment and transfer from inventory of 1106 grams of U-235 in the form of TRIGA FLIP elements to Idaho Falls, Idaho.
This shipment was completed in August 1983.
Prior to this fuel shipment the NSCR was operating under approved physical pro-tection requirements specified in a letter issued by the USNRC dated January 21, 1981. As stated in the approval letter the additional requirements were to be fully implemented until the SNM was reduced to the amount specified for Category III physical protectior: in 10 CFR 73.2(y)(1).
Even though we now satisfy the requirements of 73.2(y)(1), we have no plan at present to reduce any of the additional requirements specified in the approval letter.
