VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY SURRY POWER STATION UNITS 1 AND 2 RESPONSE TO QUESTION ON LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST TO REVISE REACTOR CORE SAFETY LIMIT

By emails dated September 28, 2021 (ML21272A062) and October 13, 2021 (ML21286A727) a member of the Dominion Energy Services Nuclear Regulatory Affairs organization provided information related to the planned implementation of Surry Power Station Units 1 and 2 License Amendment Request to revise the TS 2.1.A.1.b safety limit for fuel melt. Subsequently, the NRG Project Manager for Surry Power Station requested that this information be submitted under 10 CFR 50.30(b ), "Oath or affirmation."

The purpose of this letter is to formally provide the pertinent information provided in the emails dated September 28, 2021 and October 13, 2021 in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.4 and 50.30(b) (i.e. under oath or affirmation). Specifically, the pertinent information is as follows:

An additional implementation plan item will be added associated with the Surry Power Station Units 1 and 2 License Amendment Request to revise the TS 2.1.A.1.b safety limit for fuel melt. Specifically, UFSAR section 3.4.1.1 will be revised as part of the implementation plan for the license amendments following their issuance to include the revised fuel melt safety limit and its technical basis. Furthermore, the UFSAR will be reviewed and additional UFSAR changes will be implemented, if required, to reflect the revised fuel melt safety limit.
